I’ve been thinking about making more tunics (or kurtas) for my inner hippie, but the tunics I’ve already made seem a little…boring, especially compared with the very expensive trust-fund hippie styles you can buy from Tory Burch or Sheridan French:

The secret, I realized, is in the trim. So I took a tunic I’d made in 2011 and never worn much:

And experimented with adding some grosgrain ribbon (I also shortened the sleeves):

Blammo! That’s much more like it. Now I have a plan to add even more trim and a Nehru collar to the next one I’m making:
