Long ago, my sister-in-law mentioned “The Five Love Languages” and ever since I’ve wondered where cooking and sewing shirts for someone fall into that categorization. I think it means I really, really love Doc, right? If he’s on his fourth shirt, he has to be doing something right. 🙂
Details: The trusty McCalls M6044 pattern; Anna Maria Horner “Loominous” fabric. Sewn for our anniversary…which was in April.
This time around I got some tools to make life easier, since I was really unhappy with uneven buttonholes on the last two shirts I’d made (my machine doesn’t have an automatic feature). So I found a manual buttonhole foot on eBay that makes it so much easier to get consistent ones. While I was there, I got an expanding buttonhole gauge to make marking them easier, and a tiny half-inch chisel and cutting mat to cut them open from Amazon. (Credit to the Closet Case Files blog for clueing me in all these things exist.)
Here’s the man himself in his shirt, striking his best “catalog guy” pose. Is it any wonder I love him four shirts’ worth? Nope.
