1. Today marks two weeks since we last saw Oliver. I haven’t been giving daily updates because I wanted to stop crying every morning, but if it turns out he has a winter home and comes back next spring, I’ll let you know.

2. Yesterday was Carl Sagan’s birthday, and I had to think again about what Ann Druyan wrote after his death:

The way he treated me and the way I treated him, the way we took care of each other and our family, while he lived–that is so much more important than the idea I will see him someday. I don’t think I’ll ever see Carl again. But I saw him. We saw each other. We found each other in the cosmos, and that was wonderful.
