Right after Christmas, Doc’s mom asked for a tea cozy “for next Christmas”. However, her birthday is in early January and I was still feeling quilty after the casserole carriers, so I knocked this out before I started on my Liberty shirt.
I used this free pattern, cut down a bit to accommodate her smaller teapot, with quilting cotton on the outside and flannel on the inside. The batting is Insul-brite insulating poly so it should keep the tea pretty warm, and the seams are finished with self bias binding, made with a bias tape maker I picked up before Christmas on a whim.
Turns out I really love to make quilted fabric–something about sewing straight lines through three layers is just so satisfying. All of these kitchen projects convinced me to put this jacket in the queue next, so quilting madness will continue.
