1. I can’t listen to podcasts or anything spoken while I work (competing words) but I took 15 minutes out of the day and listened to this Radiolab segment about metronome markings in Beethoven. Short version: The metronome was invented after Beethoven was deaf, but he went back through his symphonies and added notes about the speed in them, but most modern audiences think they’re too fast. It’s not too fast! It’s what we wanted! (And anyone who uses the argument, “He was deaf–he didn’t know what he was doing,” needs to listen to the Ninth.)
