Did you hear that bassist Donald “Duck” Dunn died in his sleep Monday at the age of 70? He was, of course, the long-time bassist for Booker T and the MGs; but I got to know him from The Blues Brothers (of course). Here he is in the white t-shirt, with the pipe:

Okay… I heard he’d died, and his name was familiar, but I couldn’t place where/why I knew him… until you brought up The Blues Brothers. How sad is it that most of my knowledge of culture comes from overblown, cocaine-fueled ’70s-vintage slob comedies?

I was polishing the turd car Monday in the garage with Skyler. XM’s Outlaw Country had a tribute to him and played SO much good stuff!
