The more I watch Cosmos, the more I like Carl Sagan. Here’s the opening voiceover from Episode 8:
The sky calls to us. If we do not destroy ourselves, we will one day venture to the stars. There was a time when the stars seemed an impenetrable mystery, but today we have begun to understand them. In our personal lives, also, we journey from ignorance to knowledge. Our individual growth reflects the advancement of the species. The exploration of the cosmos is a voyage of self-discovery.
Hot damn, I’m buying one. Thanks for the link!
Sorry, that was another one I was looking at… Carl Sagan Is My Homeboy,
Here’s the right one.

I’ve read nearly all of Sagan’s books and as Jason mentioned before, his son’s site is very interesting and has some very cool early family photos of the two together.
I came across a shirt with the title of this article. What Would Carl Sagan Do?
It’s pretty cool if you want to check it out.
Here’s the link.

Indeed it is. He had a lot left to give to the world.
His son Nick has become a science fiction writer. He has a blog that he updates very infrequently, but when he does, it’s usually some anecdote or insight into his dad, and often it’s quite touching. It’s here: http://nicksagan.blogs.com
I will have to look that up, Jason. It’s a shame Sagan died so young (62).
Ah, Carl Sagan and Cosmos. I was a boy when that first aired, around 10 or 11 as I recall. I didn’t understand a lot of the series at the age, but I was captivated by it anyway, in large part because of Sagan’s enthusiasm and unique way of speaking. He shaped a lot of my thinking about the universe, and I remember feeling deeply sad when he died.
You ought to see if you can find some youtube clips of him on the old Johnny Carson show. Johnny loved him…
