I took Friday off for a little break from a crazy busy month at work. It rained two out of the three days so I was able to sew:
And watch neighborhood ducks happy in the rain:
And spend some quality time with Toby:
Then on Sunday the sun came out, appropriately enough, and we set the patio back up again and got some vitamin D. And snacks:
This weeks mark seven years with the love of my life, Toby Alexander Leto D. Darling Cat Kaminski. He was so worried that day when he came home to my apartment in the Avenues, but he realized he’d be ok the next morning and from then on we’ve been best friends.
We hold hands:
I put beds in the sunshine for him:
And now even Doc is under his Toby Spell and is putting blankets on him while he naps:
1. I’ve started actually tidying up using the KonMari method and I think it will be as life-changing as she promises. I do recommend diving in on a weekend: I started after work Wednesday and the first category I tackled, shirts and sweaters, had hundreds (no exaggeration) of items and it got a little intense–and went late into the night. I moved on to pants and skirts last night and it was much more manageable, both psychologically and in sheer volume. But maybe that’s because I had a good helper:
(Yes, he’s up on a shelf in the closet.)
2. There is a sports event happening Sunday! I found this scathing Garfunkel & Oates video about SPORTS!
Favorite lines: Sports go sports! Athletics are number one! Participants are heroes! Go team yeah!
Watching abile-bodied millionaires play with each other Watching less agile millionaire talk about it on TV May they compile copious points so they are rewarded and meritorious So you feel temporarily, adjacently victorious
(Actually, there is nothing wrong with watching or liking sports. I just can’t get behind people acting as if IT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT HAS EVER HAPPENED.)
Photos are back today (yay!) so let’s look at Toby being very dedicated to testing the blankets through every step of the process.
There was the Stretching Test:
The Biscuit-Making Test:
The Rolling Test:
And the look of approval that everything passed the test (blurry, but he looks SO PLEASED here):
And here’s half the final stack of finished blankets. I hope they help some shelter kitties stretch, roll, or make biscuits a little more comfortably:
1. October has been a rough month, health-wise: I got a head cold for a week and now I’m just getting over a 24-hour bout of food poisoning. While the weather holds I really need to re-stain and seal the back deck, get the windows washed, and about 10 other outside chores–but all I want to do on the weekends is mimic Toby:
2. Maybe this article about the difficulties of time management and prioritizing tasks can help me figure it out.
